2005 Disabled People’ Employment Year

Studies on Disability Law, which will provide important solutions to the problems faced by disabled people, have been coming to an end. To manage disability issues in a systematic way, we are in the process of preparing an action plan for the years between 2005 and 2010.

Disability Action Plan will include provision of solutions for primary problems faced by disabled people to the extent of our country’s

specific conditions and resources and the administrative arrangements. First and the foremost objective is to provide the empty vacancies to be filled in the frame of quota requirement both in public and private sector.          

In this framework, Prime Minister Mr. Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN has announced the year 2005 as the “Employment Year for Disabled People” by the suggestion of State Minister Mrs. Güdal AKŞİT. “2005 Disabled People’s Employment Year” will provide an opportunity to manage emloyment policies for disabled people all around the country based on the Disability Action Plan. In the following year, that is 2006, studies will focus on education, care, and rehabilitation.

In this process, to reinforce the positive developments in this field, our indirect aim is to apply for the “Franklin Delano Roosevelt International Disability Rewards” in September 2006 for which each year fifty countries apply in average.

It is thought that it will be possible to be brought in this reward, which is accepted as an important indicator of development levels of the countries in disability field, to our country in terms of the execution of legislative regulations and institutional capacity.
